Position Summary:
The Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in leading and overseeing the daily operations within the production department. Building upon the responsibilities of Supervisor ll, this role entails a higher level of leadership to drive productivity, quality, and safety on the farm. This position works on the farm around livestock and in a farm-based office environment.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with farm management to develop and implement operational plans for the department.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts to enhance overall farm performance.
- Ensure the work environment is safe, secure, and healthy.
- Make sure safety reports are followed up in a timely manner.
- Hold regular meetings with teams to ensure everyone is aligned and define clear directions for them to complete the tasks in a timely manner.
- Holds self and others accountable for meeting deadlines.
- Leads and motivates the larger team. Monitor team productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
- Make sure employees meet performance expectations and hold people accountable for results.
- Receive escalated complaints and resolve advanced or complex problems.
- Responsible for all necessary reporting and required paperwork.
- Ensures effective two-way communication from upper management to employees and vice versa.
- Prepare and submit employee performance reviews.
- Decide on rewards and promotions based on performance.
- Train new and existing employees, coach supervisors.
- Ensure adherence to audit, legal and company policies, procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
- Advanced communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Adaptable, flexible, quick learner and problem solver for more complex issues.
- Follow and enforce biosecurity practices on all company sites.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Audit and approve paperwork completed by employees.
- Enter data using various platforms like Excel, ADP, Noah, and Amino.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot Command III, Noah, and various other technologies
- Ability to perform or to learn how to perform S.E. Protocol swabs, blood draws and chick pad samples
- Office work 25% of the time. In the barns 75% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with 3 or more years of relevant experience as a supervisor ll.
- Ability to drive a company vehicle
- Capable of working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed and maintaining a regularly flexible schedule on call.
- Ability to remain standing and or walking while sampling chicken houses.
- No contact with birds, swine, or cattle.
- Leadership courses complete in LMS. Ensure others complete their courses. Reinforces team’s LMS learnings on the job.
- No attendance or conduct issues if promoted from within.
- Develops and applies cross functional mechanical aptitude, guides organization in developing skills.
- Bilingual a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors.
- Ability to stoop, bend, climb and lift at least 25 pounds continuously throughout the day and 50 pounds occasionally.
Safety:
- Follow all company safety rules.
- Proper PPE and hold others accountable for PPE.
- Lock out tag out awareness/authorization.
- PIT/Tractor Certification. Have or obtain within 90 days of employment
- Report any safety concerns to Manager.
