Manager/Supervisor
Position Summary:
Building upon the responsibilities of a Supervisor l, the Supervisor ll role is a key leadership position with the production department. It involves elevated responsibilities to ensure effective team management and operational excellence on the farm. This position primarily works on the farm around livestock.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of departmental goals and objectives in alignment with the overall company strategy.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to upper management for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the work environment is safe, secure, and healthy. 
  • Make sure safety reports are followed up on in a timely manner.
  • Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.  This includes meeting deadlines. Holds regular team meetings. Understands the farm cross-functionality, organizing workflow to get things done.
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching. Ensure employees meet performance expectations.
  • Receive complaints and resolve problems.
  • Maintain timekeeping and personnel records.
  • Pass on the information from upper management to employees and vice versa.
  • Prepare and submit employee performance reviews. Help to decide on rewards and promotions based on performance.
  • Train new and existing employees.
  • Ensure adherence to audit, legal and company policies, procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Adaptable, flexible, quick learner and problem solver, including between departments.
  • Follow and enforce biosecurity practices on all company sites.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with 3 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Capable of working weekends as needed and maintaining a flexible schedule on call regularly.
  • Ability to remain standing and or walking while sampling chicken houses.
  • Ability to work in an atmosphere that is dusty, dirty, hot/cold temperatures depending on the season. 
  • Does not own or maintain regular contact with birds, swine, cattle, sheep, goats or unprocessed eggs. 
  • Leadership courses complete in LMS.
  • Develops and applies cross functional mechanical aptitude.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, climb and lift at least 25 pounds. continuously throughout the day and 50 pounds occasionally.

Safety:

  • Follow all company safety rules.
  • Proper PPE.
  • Lock out tag out awareness/authorization.
  • Report any safety concerns to Manager.
